Hello. My family is attempting to raise money for my brother Scott. My brother has suffered from the mental health disorder Schizophrenia since the age of 18. At the time he was diagnosed he was given lots of very strong medications which gave him a lifelong fear of doctors and treatment. Our mother and father were never able to agree on a treatment plan. Although maybe he should have been forced into getting treatment for the possibility of a better quality of life, he was not forced due to his overwhelming fears and paranoia.
Unfortunately my brother is not able to function normally; he has never been able to hold a normal job and has never had children nor a partner. He has never seen doctors to receive treatment for his Schzophrenia therefore he is not able to receive disability. As he has not been able to work he does not receive social security. He does not have the capability to provide for himself. My mother Lois provided for him in every way up until the time she passed in 2021. My mother was able to leave enough money to provide a home and necessities for my uncle for the past 4 years. She was a very kind and generous woman, always helping both people close to her as well as anybody else she was able to.
My brother currently lives in a tiny trailer a small trailer court with the company of 3 cats he rescued and loves. His monthly rent has continued to increase and is now more than $1000 per month. He does not have money left to continue living where he is now. My family does not have the means to help provide for my brother and we are all he has. We are not wealthy people and we do not know anybody that may be able to offer the amount of financial help that is needed. Any financial help that anybody may be able to offer is appreciated. We are also open to any advice or recommendations for resources that may be available to him.
