Dear Friends
It’s difficult to share this. Our friend Sara needs our help. Sara has recently been diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer.
Sara had been feeling crummy for a few months. On November 8th, she went to the ER, where CT scans of her abdomen revealed cancer on her ovaries that had already metastasized. Shortly after, she received the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 ovarian cancer. She begins chemotherapy on December 4th.
Sara and Jeff are the loving parents of their 2-year-old, Juniper who was born October 29, 2023. They have two cute pups, Gus and Pearl, and have lived in their lovely little home for many years on the North side of Missoula. Jeff and Sara have had many life experiences as a couple, and they are really determined to get through this challenge and to continue to adventure together with their sweet girl.
Because Sara is self-employed, she doesn’t have access to sick leave or disability pay. Sara’s income is their primary source of support, and with treatment ahead, they’re facing a long road—emotionally, physically, and financially. The stress of medical bills and everyday expenses is something no family should have to face during a time like this. Any financial support will help them cover monthly bills, childcare, and groceries.
Despite everything, Sara is ready to take on this challenge. She already feels the love and strength of the community around her, and it means more than words can say.
Here are some ways you can help if you are able:
- You can donate to this GoFundMe campaign to support Sara and her family. She won’t be able to work much for the foreseeable future, and with mounting medical bills from her surgery, every bit of help makes a real difference. With a toddler in full time preschool and the everyday costs of life continuing despite the challenges, this support is one of the most effective ways to ease stress and keep Sara focused on healing.
- There’s a meal train being put together. Please click this link to sign up for a meal. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/78g4m1
- For close friends and family, one of the most meaningful ways to help is by watching Juniper when needed—during treatments, naps, or whenever Jeff needs a moment for himself. This support makes a real difference and helps keep everyone emotionally and physically well.
- Please keep staying positive and surrounding Sara and her family with support. This journey will be long, and full of highs and lows; and they want to walk it openly with their loved ones.
We will continue to update you here as things progress. Thank you so much. Light and Love
