Help Support Rose & Maggie's Mitzvah Project
Donation protected
Hi! Our names are Maggie and Rose. Our B’Not Mitzvah is June 14, 2025. As part of our B'Not Mitzvah we will be doing a Mitzvah Project. A mitzvah project is a community-oriented initiative that Jewish youth undertake in preparation for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Mitzvah projects are a way to live Jewish values of compassion and repairing the world, also known as tikkun olam.
For our Mitzvah project we are hosting a series of events for kids that have a sibling with special needs. We are reaching out to our family, friends and community to help raise funding for our very special Mitzvah project. We are kindly asking for donations for supplies, snacks and incidentals for our events. Any remaining funds will be donated to the VERY special program that inspired our project, JAFCO Family Matters' SibShops. (See below for more information on this amazing non-profit and their extraordinary services for area families in need).
Message from Mom & Dad: Big sister Rose is autistic and intellectually disabled. Little sister Maggie has been an amazing sibling to Rose and she understands how unique her life is as a sibling of a child with special needs. We would love to bring other similarly situated children together for some time to reflect, share and just be kids! Some of you may be familiar with SibShops hosted by JAFCO Family Matters, the amazing non-profit located Bala Cynwyd. We have collaborated with Ellie Ettman, LPC, Family Matters’ Director of Clinical Services to help bring the idea of SibShops back to life. We have two sessions planned just for kids who have a sibling with special needs, 1/26/25 at 2pm and 4/6/25 at 2pm, and then we will have a third and final event in May to bring all of the siblings together (neurotypical and special needs) for a fun activity such as bowling or the like. The 1/26/25 and 4/6/25 events will be held at our beloved synagogue.
Thank you very much for any amount you can donate to help fund our project. We greatly appreciate all of your support, now and always.
Love,
Rose, Maggie, Jill and Mike
