Help Support Our Son Matthew's Recovery & Fight for Justice.
Donation protected
On the evening of April 19th, our son Matthew was walking across the street in a crosswalk when a car — traveling at 45 MPH — failed to stop and struck him. His pregnant girlfriend and their 10-month-old daughter were just two feet behind him. By some miracle, they were unharmed. But Matthew suffered catastrophic injuries that changed all of our lives in an instant.
He was rushed to the ICU and remained hospitalized for 11 days with the following injuries:
* A lacerated carotid artery in his neck
* A lacerated spleen bleeding into his stomach
* Two broken bones in his right leg
* A torn ACL and MCL in his left leg
* Brain contusion with bleeding
* A broken sternum
* A severe concussion
* Severe lacerations above each eyebrow that required over 50 stitches each and required plastic surgeon consultation.
Since the accident, Matthew has been unable to work and is now facing a long, painful road to recovery — both physically and emotionally.
We were heartbroken to learn that, in the state of Florida, bodily injury coverage is not required as part of auto insurance policies. As a result, neither Matthew nor the driver who hit him had this coverage, and we were initially told we had no legal recourse in this No Fault state.
However, after further investigation, we’ve learned that the driver and another adult — who was also in the vehicle — both own businesses and have significant assets. This opens a potential path for legal action, but pursuing it requires hiring a specialized attorney to take on this complex civil case.
We are raising funds to help cover:
* Legal retainer and attorney fees
* Costs for private investigation and asset searches
* Filing and court fees
* Ongoing medical care and therapies not covered by insurance
* Basic living expenses while Matthew is unable to work
This is not just about financial relief — it’s about helping our son receive the care he needs and the justice he deserves.
Any support, whether through donation or by sharing this page, will bring us one step closer to helping Matthew rebuild his life.
With deep gratitude,
