The past month and a half has been a heartbreaking rollercoaster for our family.

A few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with melanoma — thankfully, it was caught early and fully removed during my biopsy, and I’ve been cleared. We were so relieved — but that relief was short-lived.

Today, my sister-in-law — who just turned 37 years old — is dying of cancer. She is a mother of two young boys, and there are no more treatment options left for her.

My mother in law has been caring for her daily over the last month, giving her comfort and dignity through her final days. And our entire family in Mexico has been doing everything they can to support her with love, strength, and presence — we’re so grateful for them.

But for my husband and me, we’re facing something we never imagined: not being able to be by her side as her life comes to an end. We are here in Canada, feeling helpless and heartbroken from a distance.

At the same time, we are trying to gain legal guardianship of her sons and bring them to Canada to live with us. Nothing has been prepared yet — we are doing our best to take it one step at a time, while carrying this unimaginable weight.

And as if that weren’t enough, our mom — the one who has been showing up for her daughter every day — has now been diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer and urgently needs to begin chemotherapy.

We truly hate asking for help, but right now, we don’t have a choice. Emotionally, we’re holding on with everything we have. But financially, we are overwhelmed. We’ve been sending everything we can to help with my sister-in-law’s care, and now we’re facing our mom’s cancer treatment and the responsibility of stepping in for her children.

We are asking for help through this GoFundMe so we can focus on what matters most — helping our mom fight her cancer, giving our nephews a safe and loving future, and supporting our family through this devastating time.
