Help Support Our Family With Legal Fees

As many of you may know, Anthony has asked for a divorce. It’s been a very hard time for the kids, and for me. However, due to extenuating circumstances, the lawyer fees are becoming astronomical. Anthony has refused to get his own counsel, or a job, and is draining my legal retainer. His sole focus is money. He is attempting to force the children and me out of the family home. He was arrested for assault on me in December. The assault happened while in defense of our daughter, who claimed he slapped her. However, not once has he asked to see his children. Even with supervised visits now in place, all he cares about is money.

My lawyer charges $500/hr and I have already spent $13k on retainer fees, gifted from family. My family is also running short on funds at this time. I cannot beg them for more money as Anthony continues to drag out our divorce and cost me money by emailing my lawyer over and over. If we are forced to sell, the children will lose everything they know, including their best friends and schools. I will lose the childcare I depend on in order to do my job. We will be forced to move very far away as the current cost of homes in King County are too high. The children will then also lose their extended family, as they will no longer be just a few minutes away. This will devastate them.

I work a full-time job, am a full-time single mom, and worry and stress endlessly on how I will pay for a lawyer and keep our house. The kids and I would appreciate any help you can offer as we navigate this difficult phase in our lives. My only goal is to make sure my children's emotional and physical needs are met, and that we can stay in the family home, as it is in their best interest. I feel entirely vulnerable putting all of this out there, but unfortunately, I have reached the point where I have to do something to do what is best for my children.
