Please help New Familia support “new familias”

Hola, hello. My name is Cristina Carlos and I am the executive director of New Familia, soon to be New Familia Health. A little about New Familia … based in Lincoln Heights, was originally founded in 2018 by a group of extremely committed, passionate, and visionary women concerned about maternal health and the wellness of our Eastside communities. Surviving the pandemic, New Familia confronted new challenges that postponed transitioning into a Non-Profit organization. However following the success of the creation of the Chi Chi Lounge and the evolution of several vital partnerships, the start of this new year brings much excitement to finally move foreword to birth our new Non-Profit Community-Based Organization — 

NEW FAMILIA HEALTH. We at last can begin to reach our full potential and watch New Familia bloom. 

New Familia Health will build and expand on current services that support maternal health, with the goal of continuing to offer prenatal, birthing, lactation, and lactation services. We are also incorporating nutrition and parenting classes into our programming through local community partnerships. Particularly New Familia Health plans to offer new services in the areas of gestational diabetes, doula and promotora support, in addition to individual / group mental health and nutritional counseling. Supporting our familias with basic assistance around breastfeeding supplies / equipment , transportation and food security by providing gift cards for pharmacies, Uber and local / farmer’s markets as well as for meal delivery services are also one of our first & essential steps. Developing our doula and promotora programs in order to support our familias during their prenatal through postpartum journeys, is our first goal we hope to achieve in launching our non-profit. This new stage will enable NEW FAMILIA HEALTH to apply for much needed funds to support our much needed programming offered through the Chi Chi Lounge, as well as grow innovative programs to train and employ our own mothers / parents to become vital elements in supporting our familias in the areas of pregnancy, birth, lactation & postpartum.

Won’t you support New Familia’s own journey to transform into New Familia Health, a Non-Profit Organization for the birthing & parenting community?? Whose purpose is to support maternal health, empower parents, nourish new familias and create healthy communities? Will you make a donation to help elevate the cultural importance of our services and to make accessible to familias of color and to communities where these services are often unavailable? Closing gaps in maternal care? Will you give to increase bilingual information and services for our Spanish-speaking familias, offering additional support?

The funds raised here will specifically pay for the following costs: the legal fees to form our nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation for trademark registration of New Familia Health and the Chi Chi Lounge to relaunch our website and to assist with social media support. Please contribute today to help grow our New Familia Village (where parents are supported and uplifted), expand the limits of our New Familia community (increasing necessary services and the partners that provide them), and make New Familia Health (a nonprofit organization) a finally reached reality.
