Help support my volunteering at the Bali Turtle conservation

Hi friends, family and kind supporters,

As part of my final-year studies at university, I am taking a module that focuses on volunteering opportunities in the veterinary industry. I am excited to share that I've been given the incredible opportunity to volunteer at a turtle conservation in Bali, through a wonderful programme called International Volunteer Hq .

In Indonesia, the endangered Hawksbill and Green Sea turtles face a number of threats to their survival, including overfishing, pollution and human consumption of their eggs. Young turtles are especially vulnerable and for every sea turtle that hatches, only one in 100 will survive to adulthood. Often they die after eating plastic bags they’ve mistaken for jellyfish or when they get a flipper stuck in a six-pack ring.
IVHQ’s Sea Turtle project on Nusa Penida collects turtle eggs from fishermen and keeps them safe until they hatch and grow big enough to have a good chance of survival back in the sea. Locals also find injured turtles which are treated and rehabilitated by volunteers on this project. Volunteers are key to the project’s ongoing success and its impact on marine life. Volunteering will not only allow me to be part of their vital work but also give me hands-on experience in conservation, animal rehabilitation, environmental education, and to use my skills in a unique and rewarding setting.

As part of this module I am required to raise funds towards the cost of the trip. The total estimated cost of the trip is £2500, which covers travel, accommodation, vaccinations, volunteer fees, and the essential resources for my time volunteering at the reserve.

To help towards the cost of my trip I have decided to walk the Edale Skyline Challenge, which is a 31.5km hike in the Peak District, on the 22nd February 2025.

I would be so grateful for any donation, no matter how small, to help cover the cost of my trip. Your contribution will help me gain valuable knowledge and experience while making a positive impact on wildlife conservation efforts.

Thank you for your generosity and support! It means the world to me, and I can't wait to share my journey with you!
