My mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer for the second time in just 20 months.

In early 2024 she underwent treatment for kidney cancer, which included a full radical nephrectomy. The surgery and recovery were incredibly tough, and while she was on Universal Credit during that time, the government put pressure on her to return to work far sooner than she should have. She never really had the proper recovery time her body desperately needed.

Now, before she’s even had the chance to fully rebuild her strength, she has been dealt another devastating blow: she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, which is sadly incurable. She is about to start treatment to help control the cancer and give her the best quality of life possible.

As if facing cancer twice wasn’t enough, she is also being made redundant from her job end of December, leaving her without financial stability at the worst possible time. It’s a lot for anyone to cope with — let alone losing your job at Christmas, while processing another life-changing diagnosis.

I want to help take as much of the burden off her as I can so she can focus on her health, treatment, and recovery without the constant fear of falling behind on bills or making ends meet. Which is why I have set up this page for family & friends to help support.
