Hello, Kate and Matt Bortell have a newborn baby who came into this world on 8/31/2025, weighing 8.10 lbs!! They went home healthy, expecting to adjust to a new baby in their already very busy household!!

Maxtyn became ill, and they went to SVMC and were transported to Albany Medical Center due to needing specialized care. Maxtyn has a condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome and Supraventricular Tachycardia. This is a heart condition where an extra electrical pathway exists between the upper and lower chambers of the heart. SVT is the rapid, regular heart rhythm that originates in the upper chambers of the heart.

Matt has just recently started a new job, and Kate has one more week of paid maternity leave left. They have been in Albany with Maxtyn and will be there until the doctors can control his heart rate. Maxtyn has many siblings being cared for by relatives, and Kate and Matt are coming to the end of funds to be able to drive back and forth and support themselves at the hospital while caring for their newborn baby. Any help is appreciated!! Maxtyn will need continued follow-ups with cardiology in Albany while the family adjusts to having a newborn with medical needs and caring for the entire family.
