They still have a long road ahead of them, but Maddie is making great progress. Please continue to share, tell your friends to share, and please keep praying to St. Carlo Acutis for Maddie's complete healing. Thank you for all of your continued prayers, the love and support is undeniable.
JULY 13: You all have helped in immense ways, and no one in our family can thank any of you enough. We officially surpassed a huge goal, so we've moved the amount up again! Please keep praying and sharing this! Maddie can feel all your prayers and love and they are starting to work in wonderful ways! Thank you all so much, for your kindness, support, and lifting Maddie up!
‼️UPDATE, JULY 6TH: In the middle of the night, Maddie experienced increased swelling in her brain and they had to perform an emergency craniotomy. Please continue to pray and share her story, they need it right now more than ever. Her journey took a turn that no one was expecting, but we know she is trying so hard for her family. Keep up all the love and support please!
Hi everyone! I’m writing this on behalf of my big brother and sister in law, Jordan and Maddie Schiavo. As most of you reading this probably know, they have been patiently waiting for the arrival of their first baby this summer, something I’m sure they’ve been dreaming about since they met.
This past week they went in for Maddie to be induced expecting to have their baby and live in the newborn bubble. Unfortunately, things took a turn after several hours of Maddie laboring and she had to have an emergency C-section after her heart rate spiked and she went unresponsive. Their baby was safely delivered due to all of the nurses and doctors working on the floor that acted incredibly fast, however, Maddie is in a state that none of us want her to be in.
She ended up having an “amniotic fluid embolism”, which causes amniotic fluid to enter into her bloodstream and cause almost like an anaphylactic shock response. This is something extremely rare and incredibly life-threatening, but her healthcare team is doing an incredible job treating her solely based off of research about this condition. Maddie also has a hole in her heart that no one knew about until this happened. The amniotic fluid traveled through the hole in her heart, went to her brain, and caused a right side stroke. She is currently in the Neuro ICU, where she’ll stay for the following couple of days but we don’t know how her next days, months, or years will look right now. Thankfully, they were able to get her off the ventilator and she’s been able to fully breathe on her own, but that’s just the first step. It’s going to be a long recovery for her, but everyone can already see how hard she’s trying to push through for her family and we know she will.
All we want is to be able to give Maddie and Jordan as much support as possible through this and the very last thing we want is for them to worry about the finances that are going to come with this. At this point the only thing they need to worry about is getting Maddie healthy and being first time parents to their beautiful baby. Out of respect for them, we’re going to keep the baby’s information private until they are ready to announce as a family, as that seems to be the only aspect of this they are able to control. The baby is safe, happy, healthy and couldn’t be more of an angel.
We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, so prayers are equally as appreciated in this time. Maddie and Jordan hold a very strong faith so if you have time for just one prayer, it would mean the world. Jordan told me yesterday “We need everyone praying as hard as possible.” Maddie has a special devotion to St. Carlo Acutis, so please pray on her behalf to him for her healing.
Whatever you are able to contribute, it won’t go unnoticed and it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to listen to her story and thank you for giving them as much love and support possible❤️
