As so many in our community have been asking how they can step up and support Lucy and her family during this difficult time, we are sharing the link to their GoFundMe page. This provides a simple way for anyone who wishes to help—whether by donating, sharing the page or sending a message of kindness—so we can all stand together and give them the support, space and time to grieve.

On 4th December 2025, my dear friend Lucy’s whole world changed forever when she suddenly and tragically lost her beautiful 18-year-old son, Henry Nowak. In that same moment, Henry’s sister Olivia lost not only her brother, but her best friend too.

Henry had his whole life ahead of him. He had just started his first year at Southampton University studying Accountancy and Finance, was enjoying his independence and university life, and had so many hopes, dreams and plans for the future.

Henry was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, godson and friend. His sudden loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him. For Lucy, life as she knew it stopped that day.

Since Henry’s death, Lucy has had to face the unbearable reality of living without her son, while still trying to be a mum and manage all the everyday responsibilities that don’t disappear when your world falls apart.

Amidst all this heartbreak, something really meaningful is beginning to take shape.

Lucy wants Henry’s life and memory to make a difference. Her dream is to establish a charity dedicated to supporting parents and families who suddenly find themselves facing the devastating loss of someone they love.

That is why I am setting up this fundraising page.
