Help Support Local Refugee Family
Donation protected
Hello! We are the Nazif family (Omar, Kate, Layla, Zaid and Laith).
This year we decided to reach out and "adopt" a Syrian refugee family in San Diego. We met this family through a local charity organization Heart 4 Refugees (www.heart4refugees.org). In order to meet the family's immediate needs we need some help from our friends, family and community.
The family is originally from a suburb of Damascus, Syria. They have 3 children (ages 5, 10, 15). They have witnessed unimaginable devastation and faced life-altering upheaval. As their neighborhood became more dangerous, they were forced to flee. Shortly thereafter both their home and the small factory they owned were destroyed in the fighting. After a four year struggle, they were granted refugee status and came to San Diego.
The father, Motaz, is warm, friendly and hardworking. He is very motivated for his family to become self-sufficient and financially independent as quickly as possible. Although Motaz was a small business owner in Syria, he has struggled to find work here, in part because of the language barrier. He is currently taking English classes, and he recently found a job. However, he needs a basic car to get to work. We are excited to help Motaz and his family make this a reality, and we and they would greatly appreciate your support. We plan to purchase the car directly for them from the funds raised and will give them the additional money they may need to cover rent, purchase food, use for the doctor- or any of their other needs.
Please note: Donations of $250 or more can be routed through a local charity in order to be tax deductible. Please contact us directly for details on that.
