Help support Kinsley and the Clegg family

Katt, Oli and Linden were very exited to find out last fall that they were expecting a baby girl on April 30th, 2021.  When Katt unexpectedly went into pre-term labour in January their lives changed instantly.  They welcomed into this world Kinsley Munroe Clegg, an amazing, strong, tiny fighter.  With the added complication of COVID they are unable even to have the support of friends or family with them at the hospital and our hearts go out to them.

Katt and Oli are both self-employed and similar to when Linden arrived they both expected to be able to get back to work shortly after. Between the impacts of COVID and Kinsleys extended stay in the NICU in Vancouver things look much different with finances beginning to strain.

We are hoping to raise funds to take away whatever stress we can from this wonderful family.

Katt has shared their story best here (on March 17):

“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice”

Two months ago, on January 17th, in a trauma room at the Whistler Medical Clinic, a tiny miracle came into this world.

She came 15 weeks early, very unexpectedly, into our little ski town where very few babies are born. She was a micro preemie, 835g. That’s 1.84lbs. That’s itty bitty. But I knew this little girl was strong from the start. She kicked hard between every contraction to tell us she was coming.

I can’t explain the emotions we felt that day because we felt them all. Every. Single. One.

We didn’t know what to expect when she was born. I remember the Doctor yelling at me, “Katt, look down at your baby, she’s breathing, she’s crying”, something they told us earlier would be very unlikely. The neonatal team from BC Children’s told us it was rare for a baby at this gestational age to be this strong.

We’ve been in the NICU now for 60 days and have many more days ahead of us. Some days are really hard, isolating and emotional. Some days we celebrate small victories and weight gains but today, today she is 2 months old.

Today I let my breath out and celebrate that fact that I am a mom and I have a daughter. She’s is tiny and strong and sweet and full of love. And today I want to celebrate her. Because she deserves it. And we do too.

This is Kinsley Munroe Clegg, now 3.5lbs, a beacon of strength, the holder of our hearts, and a true Whistler girl.
