Help Support Kerry Thomas (Pop) in His Fight for Life.

On the 30th of August 2025, Kerry’s life changed in an instant when he suffered a serious fall in Rockhampton. He was rushed to the emergency department where it was found he suffered a severe head trauma resulting bleeding on the brain, broken ribs and a punctured lung. Kerry was then placed in an induced coma and was airlifted by CareFlight to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital and was in the ICU. Kerry’s family were told to prepare for the worst as they attempted to wake him from the induced coma to try to see the extent of his brain injury.

After seven days in ICU, Kerry began showing signs of recovery, he was then diagnosed with pneumonia and a blood clot in his leg. After careful monitoring and support from the ICU for treatment was moved out of intensive care. The family prepared for his return back to Rockhampton and the day he was supposed to be airlifted back, his plane was delayed. At this same time his condition took a devastating turn, he suffered a massive brain bleed. He was rushed in for emergency brain surgery and is now back in the ICU in an induced coma fighting the toughest battle of his life, whilst his family once again told to prepare for the worst.

Kerry is a dearly loved husband to his wife, an adored father and father-in-law to his children, his 14 grandchildren’s whole world, a brother, son, and cherished friend to many. As they navigate this next road of uncertainty, it will be long and incredibly challenging but his strength and resilience is remarkable as he continues to fight every day.

Kerry’s family has remained by his side through every step of this journey. However, with his ongoing hospital stay in Brisbane, the financial strain is growing from travel and accommodation costs to living expenses away from home, on top of the treatment and the unknown recovery ahead.
