Hi everyone! My name is Melanie and I'm trying to help fundraise for moving expenses and a fresh start for my baby sister and her daughter, who are getting wrongfully evicted from their home.
Early Tuesday morning, on September 3rd, my sister and her daughter woke up to major flooding in their apartment. The water was 2 inches deep all throughout their home from some type of plumbing issue. My sister, Jayme, jumped into action and called her landlord. In a panic, Jayme informed her landlady about the situation, and this woman had the audacity to scream curse words at my sister. I hurried over to my sister's house to help with her emergency and try to save the floors and her furniture. Her landlord later arrived at the home and had her hired man look for the reason for the flooding. Once everything became manageable and calm, the landlord was talking to my sister about the repairs needed. My sister even offered to help replace all of the floors to help save money, even though the flooding was not her fault! She even had all of the materials needed to do the repairs!
Fast forward to Wednesday, my sister got an unfortunate call from the landlord. She was evicting them! For absolutely no valid or legal reason! Mind you, this woman has also entered the home without prior notice, ILLEGALLY, and literally cussed my sister when Jayme called about the flooding situation. Even though it states in Jayme's lease that tenant is required to contact landlord upon any emergency with the home. My sister has the most beautiful soul and heart in the world and DOES NOT deserve that type of disrespect. Not to mention, the landlord never even considered the thought of my sister's 3-year-old daughter. How can that woman just kick out a mother and her child?! Jayme walks to work and works 40+ hours a week just to provide for her baby girl, Kori. She doesn't even have transportation! It's a disgrace that Jayme and her family are being treated with such disrespect and disregard FOR NOTHING! For even doing the right thing. Not to mention, the landlord is trying to withhold her deposit and Friday morning, gave her some handwritten 'eviction notice for repairs', only giving her 5 DAYS TO LEAVE!! We have looked up landlord-tenant laws, and what this poor excuse of a person is doing is completely illegal. On top of the home being over 40 years old, having mold, all original plumbing and pipes... other words, this was going to happen, surprisingly it didnt happen sooner.. If you can please find it in your heart to help my baby sister and her baby girl, it would be much appreciated.
