Hi this is Angelica, Javier's wife. Many have reached out asking how they can help Javier/our family while he is in a medically induced coma at UC Davis in ICU.

This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family as you can imagine. At the end of last month he had an infection that appeared in his face/throat causing him to be hospitalized for a week. He was able to come home with a 14 day regimen of antibiotics and steroids. During this time he had been out of work without pay and the injury on his ankle/foot resurfaced with swelling. Most recently on Friday/Saturday night while I was driving back on a date night at the casino with Javier he had a mild heart attack. The injury in his right foot/ankle never fully healed properly and an infection began to grow. The infection went into his blood stream going all throughout his body. Javier, doctors and medical staff agreed that for the best way for them to treat infection and get ahead of it from spreading was for him to go into a sedated coma. He's been intubated and in a medically induced coma since last Saturday, September 20. He's had a few surgeries/procedures done so far and is headed in the right direction. We're hopeful that within the next few days & continued prayers he'll be out of medically induced coma and his healing continues.

His healing journey is going to be a lengthy one. If anyone knows him, they know he IS a man of God, LOVES his family and helps all that are in his lane. He is not just my husband, he is a brother, son, cousin, uncle, friend, he is also a father of 8, a Pop to other kids and has 4 grandchildren. Javier and his "infectious spirit of love" has created a ripple effect of positivity and kindness in this world.

Right now, we are focused on his recovery, but with me being the breadwinner for sometime now it is beginning to take a toll financially. Medical bills, gas & parking expenses, along with basic living expenses and time away from work are becoming overwhelming, not to mention I am here everyday with him by his side.

I have never been in this situation nor do I ever wish this upon any one. My husband has helped many and never counts favors. I am doing everything I can, but need help.

I like to thank all that have reached out via text, phone, or social media. Whether you are near or far your encouraging prayers and words continue to give us strength.
