Not all superheroes wear capes. I also never thought that I would consider my superheroes to be my own parents. However, now that I'm older and wiser, I realize that my parents' super powers are the sacrifices they have made - building a family foundation made out of love and care. Them making a home for me and my siblings to be safe and nurtured, it's only natural that we strive to provide the same for them.

However, at the tender age of 76 (dad), and 78 (mom), a time when my parents should be living the retirement dream, they are stuck in a nightmare. One that has dramatically affected not only their living conditions but also their mental and physical health.

I am asking for help on behalf of my parents who are kind, loving and have always been hard working folks. Recently, they were extorted out of their life savings by someone who was impersonating a US Marshall and threatened not only his life, but our whole family. Personal information such as names, addresses, and numbers were used as leverage in a scheme to extort money from them. My father was coerced into payment under the impression he was protecting his family and he was told that if he spoke to anyone about these threats, then harm and even death would come to us. Shortly after, three men then proceeded to arrive on my father's doorstep with guns and they warned of violence if my father did not give them money. Fearful for the lives of my mom and himself, my father cooperated.

Due to their age and having multiple ongoing health issues, going back to work is out of the question so this reserve of money was all they had for the rest of their lives. Both of them are currently chronic diabetics and suffering from other co-morbidities. My father is dealing with kidney failure and my mother is experiencing heart failure. Due to the shock of this tragic offense, their health has even taken a greater toll with both of them losing a significant amount of weight due to not eating and lack of sleep. My father is now suffering from depression and anxiety due to this incident and it has been unbearable to see what they're going through. I fear for their health and more importantly, for their safety. We are in fear that these men will come back and we are in dire need to relocate and are urgently seeking to do so.

They worked hard all their lives to save up their retirement funds only to be reeling from getting their hard earned money robbed from them. Above all, I want my parents to be happy and enjoy life and to not worry or stress about this tragedy. I started this go fund me out of the love and support I have for them. I think back to the times when they had very little, yet still found a way to help others with less. Shedding light on others with their generosity, time, and way of words.

It starts small, but one act of kindness can go a long way. I would like to say THANK YOU in advance for any help, prayers or donations that anyone can spare - even spreading this message for my parents. Anything would help them to ease the burden of this situation. With plenty evil that preys on people who are weak and vulnerable, I know that there are just as many good (superheroes) people out there in this world. I pray for everyone's safety, good health and great life. I pray for my parents to regain their normal lives. Right now they are in need of saving, and I hope to be their superhero.
