To know Nicole DeBerry is to love her.

Many of you already know and cherish Nicole—an incredible physician, a devoted mother of four, and the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. She gives her all to everything she does: spending time with her patients, showing up for every school event and horse show, and being there for her friends whenever they need her. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her.

Nicole, raised by loving parents on James Island, is a proud USC Gamecock and a graduate of MUSC medical school. She’s always been fiercely independent and self-sufficient. But what many don’t know is that the past two years have been incredibly difficult for her. She endured an emotionally and financially draining custody battle—fighting with everything she had to protect the well-being and stability of her children. To Nicole, nothing matters more than her kids.

As a self-employed physician, if Nicole doesn't work, she doesn’t get paid. Her recent breast cancer diagnosis has severely limited her ability to maintain a full-time schedule. While she's completed chemotherapy, she still faces months of radiation, immunotherapy, and surgery. Despite her health challenges, she continues to see patients on the days she’s able—because that’s who she is.

But the financial burden is growing. The stress of battling cancer while trying to provide for her family is overwhelming.

Recently, Nicole shared something heartbreaking: her daughter Molly qualified for the World Barrel Racing Championship this July—a huge and well-deserved accomplishment—but Nicole can't afford to send her. She’s also struggling to cover the cost of maintaining the barn and monthly horse fees. As a mom, this shattered my heart. Every parent wants to make their child’s dreams come true—and Nicole is no exception.

Nicole would never ask for help herself, but she’s graciously allowed me to ask on her behalf.
