With the approval of the Brant family, Charlie Davis and Eyeball Engineering Racing have created this GoFundMe on their behalf.

On August 6, 2026, during Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats, David Brant was involved in a serious rollover accident while attempting a land speed record. David was treated at the scene before being transported to the University of Utah Hospital, where he remains surrounded by his family.

David sustained extensive injuries that will require significant recovery. He is stable for now, but in critical condition. Out of respect for David and his family, we will leave the details of his condition and medical updates for them to share when and as they feel comfortable.

David’s wife, Sam, has every intention of setting up a CaringBridge account to share updates, but we don’t have that link yet. We will share as soon as possible!

Right now, David's wife, sisters, dad, grandparents, and racing family are with him in Utah and plan to remain by his side through the next stages of his recovery.

A Family Who Has Always Shown Up for Others

If you know the Brant family, you know them for more than their accomplishments and speed.

The Brants are deeply rooted in many racing communities—not only in land speed with Brant Racing and Brant-Speranza Racing, but also in motorcycles, speedway, bikes, and many other areas of motorsports. But more importantly, they are known for the kind of people they are.

They are an incredibly giving, loving, caring, helpful, and kind family and race team. They are the people who go the extra mile, lend a hand without hesitation, share their knowledge, help another racer or team, and are there when someone needs them. So many people have experienced firsthand what it means to have a Brant show up when you need someone.

Their generosity and willingness to help others are every bit as much a part of their reputation as their racing. It's simply who they are.

They have spent years showing up for everyone else. Now it's our turn to show up for them.

Why They Need Our Help

While their only focus right now is David, life outside of the hospital doesn't stop.

David and his family are not from Utah. Their home is in North Dakota, where David lives with his wife, their 3½-year-old daughter, and 15-month-old son. His family has unexpectedly had to put their normal lives, work, and responsibilities on hold while staying hundreds of miles from home to be by his side.

Right now, there is no way to know how long they will need to remain in Utah or what the coming weeks may bring.

In the days and weeks ahead, they will face expenses for lodging, meals, transportation, flights, missed work, and countless other unexpected costs. When David is medically able, the family will also face the challenge and expense of safely getting him from Utah back home to North Dakota, along with whatever his continued recovery and rehabilitation may require.

There are still so many unknowns ahead, and the road is long.

Our hope is to help take even a small part of that financial burden off their shoulders so the family's attention can remain where it belongs: on David, his surgeries, his recovery, and eventually getting him home to his wife and sweet babies.
