Dear all,
I am heartbroken to share that my younger cousin Coral, who is only 20 years old, has been diagnosed with aggressive sarcoma. Coral spent the last six months in constant sciatic pain, which started to affect her ability to walk, bend, stand, and even sleep. Numbness started to run from her hip to her toes, and she lost sensation of her bladder. During these six months she was being dismissed by Doctors, leaving her suffering and misdiagnosed until now.
On Saturday, August 30th, Coral went to Palmdale Regional Hospital in severe sciatic pain. Her scans there revealed a soft tissue mass going from her pelvic bone to her spine which was wrapping around her spinal nerves, two areas of cancer in the bones of her pelvis, and a lesion on her lung.
On Wednesday, September 3rd Coral was transferred an hour and a half away from home to City Of Hope Hospital where she will begin treatment. Unfortunately surgery isn’t an option as of now due to how close the tumor is to her spine, and the treatment she needs will be very intense and life altering, potentially causing infertility.
If you know our family, then you know how shattering and terrifying this is since Coral and her siblings lost their father to cancer in 2020. My Aunt Amanda being a single mother and provider for her family must leave work to be by Coral’s side while Coral fights for her life. Unfortunately, on top of emotional devastation, this has caused her family severe financial hardship. We are all distraught but trying to stay strong and positive for our sweet Coral.
By donating, you are giving my aunt the ability to stay by Coral’s side every step of the way, without the impossible choice between working to provide for the family or being present for her daughter's fight. No young woman battling cancer should ever have to sit in treatment alone, and no mother should have to leave her child during the hardest battle of her life. Your support allows Coral to focus on healing instead of carrying the heavy burden of financial stress on top of cancer. Together, we can keep her spirits strong and remind her that she has a village behind her.
Your donation will go directly toward:
- Medical bills and treatment costs not covered by insurance
- Travel expenses for Coral’s care
- Monthly bills, so my aunt can stay with Coral
- Giving Coral the comfort and care she needs while fighting cancer
We deeply appreciate your support and love while we navigate such a troubling time. Every donation counts, no matter the amount. Even if you can’t donate, sharing Coral’s story means the world to us. Please help us give Coral the support she deserves to focus on the fight of her life.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support!
