Asking for some help!
I have a close friend of mine I am wanting to help….
Back in August 2008, he and his wife welcomed to their family a beautiful baby girl they named Kaydence (Kady for short). It should have been one of the happiest days of their lives, however when she was born, she experienced a lot of medical issues that the doctors could not understand since the pregnancy was normal with no complications. After numerous tests, it was determined that she has a form of Cerebral Palsy and spastic quadriplegia meaning that Kady will never be able to walk. She also has other development disabilities including seizures, she is non-verbal and is fed through a GI tube. This to say the least, has been a very difficult struggle for my friend and his family emotionally and financially since Kady requires constant 24-hour care. They both needed to hold full time jobs, schedule nursing/care for her and attend countless doctor’s appointments and many hospital stays. Through the years this struggle has increased as she has had more medical issues as her organs grew in her little body. There have been many ups & downs over the years, however they always seems to manage through it with LOT’s of love and support from their family & friends.
In August of 2020, he was hit with devastating news... His beautiful wife of 20 years/his best friend and the ROCK of their family was diagnosed with Melanoma. After receiving this news, they went to several doctor’s appointments, and she went through a couple bouts of treatment only to have lost her life within two months of being diagnosed. He and his family were completely heartbroken & devastated. My friend slowly picked up the pieces and moved forward with life caring for this now 17-year-old son and 12-year-old Kady trying best to focus on the positive.
In November of 2022 Kady became very ill and was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Boston where she was found to be septic. After being hospitalized for 10 days and the scare of “this may be it” she was able to go home to recover. In January of 2023, she developed a large kidney stone that needed laser surgery to break it up. She then was found to have a bladder stone which did not respond to laser surgery but needed surgical removal. For several months, Kady was in and out of the hospital with several medical issues. In November of 2023 it was determined that she had to have one of her kidneys removed due to the damage left from that large kidney stone. It was an extremely complex surgery due to her anatomy, so yet another scare of “this may be it”. The surgery took five hours and was completed successfully & being the fighter she is, she has been healing thus far with no complications.
This is where I am asking for your help.
After this past scare my friend really wants to take his daughter to Disney since Kady’s dream has been to go to Disney world to see all the Disney princesses since she IS a princess herself. He mentioned to me there is a place in Disney, it’s called the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where he can take her in her wheelchair and transform her into a princess with a dress, makeup and hairstyle. It will be a dream come true for Kady. “I don’t care what it costs” is what he said to me.
This last comment is what triggered me instantly to try to help in any way. This is going to be financially challenging for him and I want to give him & Kady this dream come true. He has stress each and every day, and I really want him to have this without stress or sacrifice. He is an amazing man, father, friend and once husband who deserves so very much.
Please help me make this happen for him and possibly even more positive experiences for them in the future. Thank you very much!
