Help support Chester & Otis’s family

Donation protected
Hi all, firstly thank you for taking the time to read the story. We really appreciate it xx

Kelly & Bill found out earlier this year that they were expecting identical twin boys and were over the moon to be giving their 3 children another 2 siblings. The excitement didn’t last long as by 19 weeks, Kelly found out that one of her twins wasn’t growing as he should be and doctors warned that she was likely to lose him. Turmoil hit, she had to have laser surgery to separate the twins in the womb. She was basically told to sit tight and wait for small twin Chester to die. She was then put on bed rest meaning she was no longer able to work, so not only did she have the devastation

looming over her that she could lose a twin, income was now also an issue. Things took a turn for the worse and she had to make the terrifying decision to deliver the boys at 28 weeks in order to give her small twin Chester a chance of survival as the monitors showed he was in distress. Even though she was warned she would be jeopardising Otis by delivering him prematurely, when Chester was unlikely to live due to his size.

They were transferred to a level 3 hospital 90mins away from home where Chester was born weighing a tiny 1 lb 1 and Otis at 3lb 7. Kelly & Bill spent the next 7 weeks living in Cambridge to be close to the twins as they battled to stay alive. Chester caught NEC, the deadly disease that is the main cause of death in premature babies, then fought off Sepsis 2 weeks later. He recently had to undergo laser surgery to his eyes to try to prevent him for being blind. It was heartbreaking for the family coping with this while being away from their other 3 children. Most days they would drive the 150 mile round trip to be able to spend time with them all.

100 days on and Chester is still in NICU, while Otis is in the children’s ward of the hospital undergoing tests to find out why he has become so poorly recently after previously being home. This is now the 2nd time this year Kelly has had to be separated from her older children to be there for her poorly twins. Bill hasn’t been able to return to work as they need to juggle childcare between the 3 older children, having a newborn at home and visiting a baby in NICU. During this time of next to no income, savings have been entirely drained and now they face this huge financial burden, as well as doing everything they can to be there for all the children.

I would like to raise funds to help support them in this horrific time so that they can all continue to be together and concentrate on getting their baby boys healthy and finally be reunited as a family. They have been so strong throughout this all and I’d love to remove some of the financial stress, as having 5 children to look after in 3 different places would take its toll on the best of us. They have been through so much as a family and I would love to give them one less worry. Please if you can spare anything, no matter how big or small, I know how much it would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you so much xxx
