On September 11, 2025, my friends Whitney and Travis welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Zayda, into the world. What was imagined to be a peaceful and joyful home birth quickly turned into a terrifying turn of events.

Upon her arrival, Zayda was not breathing and required immediate medical care. She was quickly transferred to the Northern Lights NICU, where she remains under close monitoring. In her first 24 hours of life, Zayda experienced two additional episodes of apnea (a period of not breathing) along with three separate seizures.

While the amazing medical team continues to care for her, Whitney and Travis are navigating the most difficult days of their lives, balancing the uncertainty of Zayda’s health while also trying to remain strong for one another and their two 8 year old girls.

As friends, coworkers, and members of their community, we have the opportunity to rally around them. I am asking for donations to help ease the financial burden during this time, so Whitney and Travis can put their energy where it belongs: supporting baby Zayda’s healing and recovery.
