Help Support Baby Sophia’s Journey
Hello everyone,
We’re reaching out with love and gratitude as Jason and Courtney prepare to welcome their precious daughter, Sophia, who is expected to arrive on August 13th.
At just 16 weeks into the pregnancy, Jason and Courtney received the heartbreaking news that Sophia had been diagnosed with Turner Syndrome. They were told that, because of complications related to the condition, she may only survive days to weeks. Despite the odds, Sophia has continued to grow and fight—proving she is already a little warrior.
In addition to Turner Syndrome, Sophia has a serious heart defect called coarctation of the aorta—a condition where part of her aorta is too narrow, making it difficult for blood to flow properly once she’s born. Right now, her heart is supported by her loving mother’s circulation, but once she enters the world, she’ll need immediate care—medicine or a stent placed right away, followed by open-heart surgery once she gains a bit more weight and strength.
To give Sophia the very best chance, Courtney will be delivering at a top-ranked hospital in Charleston, SC, known nationally for its expertise in pediatric cardiology. They are expected to be there for 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how Sophia responds to surgery and recovery. And while the immediate goal is to stabilize and strengthen her heart, Sophia will also require lifelong follow-up with a cardiologist to monitor her heart health and support her ongoing needs.
There have already been many blessings along the way. Sophia continues to show that she can beat the odds. Jason and Courtney are fortunate to be able to stay in the NICU with her, and they also have a room at the Ronald McDonald House, which gives them a space to rest and recharge while staying close to their baby girl.
Still, the emotional and financial toll is very real.
While they are doing everything they can to prepare, this journey comes with significant and unexpected expenses: travel, extended lodging, meals, time away from work, and medical-related costs that aren’t fully covered.
We’re asking for your support—not just financially, but emotionally, spiritually, and through your prayers. Anything helps: a donation, a kind word, or simply sharing their story.
This journey started in Charleston—the first place Jason and Courtney visited together—and now it’s where their baby girl will begin her brave fight. We believe in Sophia’s strength and are so grateful for the love surrounding their family.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing by Jason, Courtney, and baby Sophia as they prepare to welcome their sweet, strong warrior.
