Anthony Helfer is the son of my best friend of over 40 years, and I consider him my Nephew. The family is going through a very devastating time. With my best friend Stephanie's permission, I want to share Anthony's story and ask for support for their family at this time.
Anthony has not had an easy go at life, starting with Kidney issues that were caught during Stephanie's pregnancy. Due to these complications, he has had multiple surgeries and a Kidney transplant that he received from his Aunt.
On April 18th Anthony was diagnosed with cancer and was told it was highly curable. Still, because of concern about his Kidney rejection due to the type of treatment, they did not start Chemo and Radiation until the first week of August. Anthony continued to work full-time until treatment began, but the pain was just too much.
On October 12th, Anthony was admitted to the hospital with Pneumonia; they did a scope and determined his cancer had spread up into the tissue surrounding his lungs, making his cancer now stage 4 and not curable. Stephanie has had to leave her job to stay home to care for Anthony, guaranteeing he has the best care possible while going through Chemo.
I am asking that we rally for this family in prayers and financially; they need a miracle and should not have to worry about bills piling up or the loss of their home.
