Hi, my name is Melissa Rosario! In May of this year, my daughter, Amerie, was diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disease (juvenile dermatomyositis), which causes severe joint inflammation and weakness within her muscles that leads to complications in her daily life. She has also experienced physical complications with her condition, including hair loss and visible skin irritation. I’m starting this fundraiser to raise money for treatments not covered by her medical insurance (ex., second opinion physicians, massage therapy, integrative therapy, etc.) to help further her comfort and confidence in her recovery journey. The money will also be used to support her everyday needs when applicable because I have maxed out my intermittent leave pay through my work, so taking any time off to take care of her causes me to not be paid as I would on a normal work week. This affects my ability to pay for my entire family unit and other expenses for the home.

 

This fundraiser is very important to me because I want to help my daughter heal in the least invasive way so that she can lead a normal teenage life. She’s currently attending high school in person, and every day is a struggle due to the physical pain from the inflammation. It also affects her confidence in attending school because of her hair loss. I would appreciate any donations at this time, as we are all living in difficult times.
