Hello , My name is Kahliyah. I'm a 23-year-old woman currently living in Memphis, I moved from Los Angeles , Ca, quit my 2 jobs to take care of my 69 year old grandmother who has MS ( multiple sclerosis ) a mild case of Dementia and happen to be living alone. No one asked me to be here , but I felt called to make this decision out pure compassion for my elder. Ever since, i've been showing up daily to care for my grandmother , as she needs 24 hour care. No one else is able to help her , nor can she help herself . Ive tried to get some aid from various healthcare agencies but she's over the threshold they require and she didn't properly prepare for this current stage in her life. Again I came here out of love, but it's been taking a real toll on me physically , emotionally and financially. I'm reaching out for help because I've been carrying the cost of household necessities and other essentials on my own, and I simply can't keep going like this.

Unfortunately I am also without a Vehicle and I don't have the means to afford one due to my financial discrepancies. I've spent a lot of money getting around on Lyft rides which doesn't include food and daily supplies which has also come out of pocket. I don't have a consistent income at the moment , only savings and very little outside support. I do what I can to get by , without asking for too much of others , But its definitely a challenge.

I stepped up without asking for anything, but the truth is , I need help now. This situation has left me emotionally and financially drained. Care giving is a lot of work and now I realize how invisible this kind of labor can be , especially as a young woman navigating it all on her own.

I'm not just asking for money , I'm asking for breathing room. For some financial relief so I can continue showing up for my grandmother without sacrificing my future to do it.
