Help Support a Single Quad Mother with an Accessible Van!

Hello all you beautiful people! First off thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read my story! If you’re unable to help please SHARE! 5years ago I was stabbed by my twins father for deciding to leave the relationship due to my abuser drug use. I have a high level cervical injury of C5/C6 resulting in being paralyzed from the chest down. I have limited use of my hands and very limited balance in my core. Two years after my injury despite these limitations I graduated college and received my driving license. I pushed myself in recovery to beat the odds and prove to my then 3yr old twins that you can’t give up no matter WHAT! Being not able to move anything but my neck in the beginning I stood firm in my faith in Gods Power. I believed that He would strengthen me in my aim for rehabilitation because I had no family support. Everyone I knew had turn away from me and decided they didn’t want any dealings with me or my boys. God was all I had. Two years ago I became independent and now is able to live independently and care for my boys. Still in recovery with much more to go I have learned to cook, clean, and even drive! The reason for starting this fundraiser is to hopefully receive help to purchase a handicap van for myself and my twin boys! This van will help us to travel around to more places without me having to go through autonomic dysreflexia. This is a a spinal cord disorder that destabilizes the blood pressure (possibly leading to a stroke) signaling that there’s a problem that needs to be fixed asap! Having a van that I can drive in my electric wheelchair will allow me to take my sons on adventures that children are supposed to experience. My goal was always to never limit my boys lives because mines slowed down. My boys deserve the world! Being a single mother and living alone for the past 2yrs I have trained them to do all the things a provider can do. They’ve learned to work my hoyer lift when I need to get in and out of bed, they’ve learned to make coffee and even prepare food if needed. They dream is to go to Disney land and I promised them that one day we will make it. Medically this van will help me with traveling long distance due to my rehab hospital being 2hrs away from my home! My current residence is in Beaumont Texas but I travel to the Houston Medical District for all my doctors appointments. Gratefully I’m a new volunteer now at Tirr Memorial Hospital which is where I attended the last 3yrs obtain all my rehab needs and recovery. The literally taught me everything I know! I only attend once a week at the moment but would like to go more often if able. It’s my way of giving back hope to those newly injured and letting them know that no matter what if the push hard they can too beat the odds! Sorry to talk your heads off but just wanted to give you a little insight into my new world. May God bless you and your family!
