Help Sunyata & Ronin Ground into Their Homestead
Donation protected
Aloha friends,
I'm Ryan, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of two people I care about—Sunyata (formerly Tanya) and her son, Ronin.
They’ve recently moved into a humble homestead in Hawai'i after years of dreaming, working hard, and overcoming many obstacles. While they’re now living on the land, there are still a few essential needs to make it fully functional and sustainable.
I’ve known them for years and once lived in the upstairs unit of a rental we cohabitated in. Sunyata is a dedicated, and soulful single mother doing her best to make a good life for her and her son. Ronin is a clever, deeply caring, and wild kid that I adore and have felt honored to befriend. I make this offering to contribute and weave the kind of community web that lifts one another up in the good, bad, and between. I hope you’ll join me in helping them get what they need to survive and thrive.
What They’ve Already Done
They’ve come a long way already, with Sunyata pouring her heart, labor, and resources into the land. With the support of friends, massage trades, and personal loans, she’s been able to:
-Clear a driveway and install a gate
-Set up a tiny home with power and plumbing
-Create composting systems
-Make the space livable and grounded for Ronin
What’s Still Needed
To complete the transition into a truly sustainable home, we’re raising $6,000 to support two urgent projects:
1. Clean, Pathogen-Free Water (~$4,000)
Their current water system needs upgrades for safe, healthy drinking and cooking, water is life. This includes additions to the tank filtration system, improvements to the reverse osmosis kitchen unit, and/ or a Berkey-style purifier.
2. A Safe and Driveable Driveway (~$2,000)
The steep incline of the driveway is eroding. It needs to be re-graded, reinforced, and resurfaced with rock and/or concrete to ensure safe, reliable access to the home.
Why Support?
Sunyata is a nature-loving yogini, a full-time single mom doing everything she can to create a rooted, purpose-driven life for her and Ronin. She’s committed to living simply, in alignment with her values, and to giving back through land care, healing arts, and service to community.
She’s already stretched herself thin with loans and trade work. Now, she’s calling in support to cross this final threshold—and to ensure her and Ronin have a stable, nourishing place to thrivein the long term. And for Ronin to simply get to be.
In Sunyatas word, “It takes a village is truly evident in our modern civilization. Any choice you make to share in our effort I consider so kind and generous. Mahalo and blessed be.”
Your donation will help create stability and sovereignty for a mother and son committed to living with integrity, and gives Ronin a solid foundation to grow, learn, and thrive.
With love and gratitude,
Ryan
