A message from Tayanjas brother,
“I’m reaching out as an older brother asking for support for my little sister, Tayanja Johnson, known to family, friends, and her community as “Sugar.”
On the night of April 11th into the early morning of April 12th, her apartment complex was struck by a devastating fire. In just a matter of hours, my sister lost everything. Not just a place to live, but every single thing inside of it, her clothes, personal belongings, cherished photos, important documents, school degrees, and all the items that make a house a home. Everything was taken.
Sugar is currently serving in the military and was traveling for work at the time, continuing to show up with dedication and strength. Because of her service, she lives away from family in a different state and city, which makes this situation even more difficult. Being far from home means limited immediate support, and having to rebuild her life from a distance adds another layer of challenge.
While she is surrounded by support from fellow service members, friends, and loved ones, there are still so many immediate and long-term needs ahead. Replacing basic essentials, securing stable housing, and beginning the emotional process of rebuilding after such a traumatic loss is overwhelming.
As her older brother, it’s hard to put into words what it feels like to see someone you love go through something like this and not be able to fix it. That’s why I’m asking for help from anyone willing to give.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will go a long way in helping Sugar rebuild her life, replace what was lost, and take steps forward during this incredibly difficult time. Your support will directly provide the resources she needs as she navigates this recovery while being away from home.
If you’re unable to give, sharing this page or keeping her in your thoughts and prayers means just as much.
As one of her close friends shared:
“Within a few short hours, she lost everything she owned, including irreplaceable photos and letters from loved ones. Please consider donating to help ease the financial burden as Sugar embarks on a journey to rebuild what she has lost and heal from these traumatic events.”
For those looking for additional context, a link to the local fire department’s page is included, where they shared details about the incident, their response in resolving the fire, and photos from the scene.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support in Advance.”
