My name is Owen Jones, I am the Program Manager for the Yreka Community Resource Center. I created this gofundme page to assist a sweet and wonderful client named Stuart and his wife. Stuart has been coming into YCRC to work on his immigration paperwork for over a year and a half all the while navigating homelessness. He was determined to do it legally, the right way, and I am happy to say that he has been extremely diligent and has completed every required step.
Now, he just needs YOUR help. This is Stuart's story below:
My name is Stuart Brown. I was born and raised in England, and a few years ago, I fell in love with a woman from Siskiyou County, California — Jennifer. She is my partner, my best friend, and my reason for crossing an ocean to start a new life. We married, full of hope and excitement for the future ahead of us.
But life, as it sometimes does, had other plans.
Shortly after our wedding, a series of unforeseen circumstances left us without stable housing. We found ourselves homeless — a reality neither of us ever imagined we would face, and one that has been both humbling and heartbreaking. Jennifer has been dealing with ongoing health issues that have made it impossible for her to work. And I, due to my current immigration status, am legally unable to work either — trapped in a painful waiting period, unable to provide for my wife the way I so desperately want to.
Here is the thing, though: we are so close.
I have completed every single piece of my immigration paperwork. Every form, every document, every requirement — done. The only thing standing between me and my citizenship is one final fee. With a green card in hand, I can legally work, earn a living, and begin pulling our family out of this incredibly difficult chapter.
We are asking for assistance to cover that immigration filing fee. This single payment is the key that unlocks everything — the ability for me to work, for us to afford stable housing, and for our lives to finally move forward together. Anything beyond that would go to immediate basic necessities like housing/food.
We are not asking for a handout — we are asking for a hand up. I have the drive, the will, and the work ethic to take care of my family the moment the law allows me to. We simply need help clearing this one final hurdle.
If you are able to contribute — anything at all — we are deeply grateful. And if you cannot give financially, please consider sharing this campaign. Every share puts us one step closer to the life we are fighting for.
With gratitude and hope,
Stuart & Jennifer Brown
