Beginning November 1st, many Americans will be losing their SNAP benefits. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal assistance program that provides food benefits to low-income individuals and families to help them afford nutritious food.
It is hopeful that this will be a temporary situation, but nonetheless it is coming at a difficult time as we are heading into the holiday season.
Struggletown BBQ wants to do what we can to help. So, until further notice or whenever the SNAP program is reinstated, we will offer the following services:
1. Starting November 1st, any person who is currently receiving SNAP benefits can stop in our restaurant in Mount Sinai and you and any children with you will receive one free pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich and a beverage. No questions asked. Just show your SNAP card and an ID.
2. If the SNAP program is still shut down by the time Thanksgiving arrives, we will provide a free Thanksgiving meal to any family who has lost their benefits and needs assistance putting a Thanksgiving meal on the table. Just contact the store at (631) [phone redacted] and ask for John.
Your contribution will help us reach out to as many people as possible and help feed them while their benefits are no longer available. All money raised will go DIRECTLY towards the purchase of food for those who need a meal.
Please understand we may need to adjust this plan or alter the offerings as this plays out, but it's the least we can do right now to help those who need a helping hand and NOBODY should go without food.
