Help street kids in Mityana Uganda
Donation protected
Hi, My name is DeAnna Odom. I have been sending money to a young man named John Mwanja since January of 2021. He takes care of street kids in Mityana Uganda.
Mityana is extremely poor. One of the poorest cities in the world! 50 % of Uganda is under 15 yrs. old! Due to the water problems, AIDS and Malaria and lack of food and healthcare.
John himself has had painful gallstones for almost a year now!
Some of these children are homeless and some are not technically homeless but for whatever reason they are on the streets most the time. All of them lack food in a horrific way! John’s effort toward these children is tireless. They have a strong bond.
People have no idea how good we have it in the states. If many people would just send $10.
it would make a much bigger impact than you realize.
His dream is to build or buy a home for the homeless children to stay. But money and work are so scarce that what little money he gets he buys food.
In the beginning,
I asked him to write on a piece of paper “it’s me DeAnna” and send me a pic. of him holding it So I could know he is the same person on FB that I had been talking to and the same person in the videos & pics of him w/the children I’d been looking at.
He did right away. There’s about 30 children now that he cares for. He himself was orphaned and thru this bonded with these children. They’ve been through a lot together.
I first sent him $50. And he video called me on messenger to thank me w/the children. My heart melted! I started blowing kisses and they all started blowing kisses back.
Was so heartwarming yet so heartbreaking too!
He sent me videos of the food he had bought and pictures of receipts. (I didn’t ask him too).
So I’m hoping to raise more money for these children.
My goal $10,000 which would like be like $17,000 there. Not enough to buy/build a home (that would take like 130,000 USD to do that)
but enough to buy food/shoes, maybe rent a place but also pay the fees to register a little orphanage.
(Which he wants to do) But you have to have an address and you have to pay the fees.
Which would open doors to other funding for them.
Even a small amount is pretty good there. $50 feeds all 30 of them for almost a week. So even $10. is good for the day. I hope you can help with something, anything at all.
Thank you! Many Blessings!
