Help stop Drug and Alcohol Addictions in Puerto Rico !

Hello everyone!

I am Pastor Michael Blacker, Director of A New Life Mens Center in Coamo, Puerto Rico. At A New Life Mens Center, we are working to build a facility which will house 20 men for a nine - month long comprehensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Many of the men of Puerto Rico struggle with addictions, and truly desire to get free, but are unable to escape the constant temptations of the environment that they live in.

Like many here in, this young man is a hard worker, yet has fallen prey to drug addiction. I met him at a gas station asking for spare change. I instead chose to buy him a good meal, and gave him a good pair of sneakers, and prayed for him. He shared his desire to be free of the drugs controlling his life, yet he is unable to resist the temptations that are all too familiar in the environment in which he lives. When I told him of our vision of a program in the mountains, far from the temptations and troubles of life on the street, he became excited. My promise was to find him when we get our Center. THE VISION BECAME PERSONAL TO ME FROM THAT MOMENT!

• Saving hundreds of men from possible death, and living substandard lives due to the limitations of addiction.

• Transforming these men and their families into sober, and productive lives. Enabling them to draw closer to fulfilling the potential that each one has within them

• Building a Model Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation that not only will remain for many generations, but can be duplicated for both men and women throughout Puerto Rico.

We are working hard to build a state of the art, self – sufficient, secluded community on a farm in the mountains, where some of these men can come and transform their lives. Setting men free of addictions is a complex process, so it is important to provide our men with all of the following services:

• Daily Prayer and Bible Study Curriculum

• Medical and Dental Treatment

• Individual and Family Counseling

• Mental Health Treatment

• Nutritional Counseling

• Labor Therapy

• Job and Vocational Training

• Future Education / Job Placement

Why do we need your help?

It costs $723,000 to built this state of the art facility. This year, we are looking to raise $238,000 through GoFundMe to bring our building site all the amenities, and complete the first two of our four buildings. Almost every day we meet people who urgently need services for either a family member, or a loved one of their communities. This campaign is very important because of the many men and their families that urgently need help. In fact, some of the men, unfortunately, might die of a drug overdose. As soon as our facility is complete, we will not only be working daily with 20 men to transform their lives, but begin planning the next phase of construction on our property which can house 100 men.

Here are our Construction Plans:

Building 1: Workshop / Storage One Room and Bath for Staff / Guests.

Building 2: Dormitory for Four Residents.

Building 3:Director’s Residence

Building 4:Dormitory for Twenty Residents.

The money raised will go to:

• Prepare and Pave our ¼ mile access road with steel rods, and concrete.

• Repair an empty 30,000 gallon water tank which is on the highest point of our property. This tank will be used to collect rainwater, which will be usable for both the farm, as well as the future buildings. It will be an essential back up for the undependable public water, which very often is unavailable due to damages or maintenance in the community.

• Open an account with the public water authority, and install the ¼ mile of plumbing to bring public water to our Sanctuary and Construction Area. A 1,000 Gallon Water Tank will be installed to store water.

• Finally, the construction of our future buildings.

A friend of ours from Church brought his friend, struggling with alcohol usage to help us work one day. He was greatly impacted by our time spent with him and Prayers.

The final result, so needed by many, is to receive the love which heals and transforms our lives.

May 30 Progress Update !

The day of Victory !

Great victories usually are the result of long battles and hard work.

Josue was excited about my ministry of rehabilitation, and really wanted me to meet Javier, a man struggling with heavy addictions.

He showed alot of kindness to Javier, despite his troubles, which damaged him, his family and all of the neighborhood he lived in. We all prayed about him for a long time.

Finally, the day came for our Evangelistic Service, and God gave us His blessings. Javier showed up heavily under the influence. Despite that, the message that was preached touched him deeply. When Josue and Pastor Ruperto prayed for him after the Service, the victory came !

Now, it is a year later and Javier’s life has been changed miraculously !
