My name is Sharon Elliot, and I’m raising money for my brother. Stewart Enroughty, who has had ALS for the past seven years. Up until March, he and his wife had been able to manage his care at home with the help of a Medicare- provided electric wheel chair. In March, he was rushed to the ER because he was unable to breathe. Doctors performed a tracheostomy which requires him to have a portable ventilator.
Since March he has been back and forth between home and the hospital with breathing issues. His doctors have recommended a live- in facility, so his breathing can be maintained on a 24/7 basis. He is still capable of a quality of life and is not ready to go. He can communicate with us, read and watch TV. His pain and ALS progression can be managed
Because he has a ventilator, we have had a problem finding a live-in facility- nursing home, hospice facility — that can accommodate him. We have found a place in Colorado Springs, Colorado (6 hours from his home/wife) that may be able to take him, but the cost is about $8000/month more than Medicare and his insurance will pay.
We’re hoping to raise enough money to be able to give him security and a quality of his remaining life without constant fear of not being able to breathe.
Please help us prolong Stewart's quality of life with what so many of us take for granted-- oxygen-- with your contributions and prayers.
