Help Steve's Mom Find a New Home

As some may know, Steve’s brother recently and unexpectedly passed away. To say this is a difficult time is an understatement. He was sharing an apartment & related expenses with Steve’s mother in Santa Rosa.

While we are mourning the loss of Steve’s brother, we are frantically trying to find permanent housing for his mom, who is elderly & with a fixed, limited income. We have been covering the cost for her temporary living in hotels and as you can imagine, it's a struggle, expensive, and our funds are dwindling rapidly. Our ideal plan is to move from our small apartment to a bigger place so his mom (and her little dog Louis) can come live with us but that is going to take some time and in the meantime, she needs housing now.

Why are we asking for $6k?

Emergency housing costs add up fast. We’ve been trying to get her into low-income senior housing and the waitlists are long. Some up to 5 years. We’ve tried Airbnb but it’s even more expensive than hotels. To date, we’ve spent about half of what we’re asking for in one month. As we look at properties not designed for low-income seniors, they want proof of 2.5x income but as a retired senior on fixed, monthly income, that’s proving to be a real challenge. We’re also working with local government agencies to help find housing but that also takes time, time she doesn’t have as her needs are immediate.

We are with limited family so we are hoping anyone reading this can lend a helping hand during this time of real need to get Steve’s mom settled. No amount is too small and any donation is appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you in advance.
