Help Steve overcome a rental scam

My father, Stephen Grove became disabled after being involved in a car accident in 2003. My sister and I had to give the doctors permission to amputate his right arm. He was no longer able to enjoy playing the guitar or going fishing, but more importantly he was no longer able to do the construction work he did most of my life and provide for himself. In 2008 he started receiving housing assistance. He found a small condo on the north side of town and has lived there since. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey flooded his condo, ruining his home, most of his furniture, and some of his belongings. My dad relied on the landlord to make the necessary repairs so it would pass the housing authorities yearly inspection. The unit wasn't brought to the housing authorities code by the deadline so they will no longer provide the housing assistance. My dad gave the landlord notice he would move out, as advised by the housing authority and began searching for a new home.
Last week my dad called me so excited to report he found a great 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a garage within his budget- actually all bills paid. He spoke with the landlord and assured him he'd get the deposit together. He pawned all of his tools and was about to get a vehicle title loan for the couple hundred he still needed, but I talked him into accepting some help from me. He went straight to the bank got the money orders and deposited them into the new landlords account. He hasn't received the signed lease or the keys. It was all a scam!
He has been in contact with the DA to prosecute the person(s) responsible for this scam as well as the news media to make the public aware of this scam. I am asking you to please help my dad. He has until July 1st to find a new home pack up and move from his current condo, and he would really appreciate any financial assistance you can contribute. All donations provided will be used strictly for the purpose of moving expenses, deposit expenses, and lastly to retrieve his tools from the pawn shop.
Thank You,
Monica Grove
