Help Stephen to volunteer in Kenya

Hi I’m Stephen and I am fundraising to pay for my volunteering trip to Kenya with my school and #dosomethingamazing!
My Kenya Trek Expedition 2024 is with Camps International, money raised will pay towards my travel and associated costs to volunteer in Kenya with Camps International, who manage and organise ethical journeys with impact.
They started in 2002 setting up a camp on the Kenyan coast, and now have conservation projects that have helped protect 100,000 hectares of wilderness in 7 of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, and established 1.1 million extra trees in reforestation efforts since 2003!
I would love to be apart of this and I along with my school friends are raising money to pay for us to attend the Kenyan camp.
The camp supports communities in East Africa where members of the community have little income other than subsistence farming and just over half of the population live in poverty!
The work I want to be apart of helps better the lives of the community living near the camp.
Some of the activities I would take part in include (but not limited to):
- Building desks for school children, who would otherwise have to sit on the floor to learn
- Digging elephant watering holes to help them survive the dry season
- Help with maintenance work for the Rhino sanctuary
- De-worm goats- apparently they love to wiggle so need to hold them tight!
- Help install fresh water tanks at schools and in villages to provide accessible clean water.
I will get to experience a different culture, make friends and help make a real difference whilst also learning practical and life skills, and they trip will contribute towards my Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Key once in a lifetime highlights are
- Climbing Mt Kenya!
- Going on a big animal safari to see elephants, giraffes and lions!
