Thank you for taking time to read this fundraiser. Steph and I have been best friends since we were three years old. A lifelong dream of
hers is to have children. As many of you know, she has been trying to make this dream a reality for the last four years.
She began her journey with doing foster-to-adopt. After much consideration and two placements, she decided this was not the route she wanted to take. The main goal of foster care is to reunify parents and children; knowing this, she decided that fostering was not right for her at this moment.
After foster care, Steph decided to try insemination at a fertility clinic. After many tests and hormone therapies, Steph was able to conceive on her first attempt! She was elated. Unfortunately, halfway through this pregnancy, Steph suffered an exceedingly difficult and debilitating miscarriage. The emotional pain is still very much a part of who she is.
If you know Steph like I do, you know she has NEVER been a quitter. She jumped back on the horse and returned to the fertility clinic to try again. Unfortunately, after several more hormone therapies, and five attempts at insemination, Steph was unable to conceive. The financial commitment of artificial insemination is a huge burden that is not covered by insurance. Steph has footed the bill for all of these procedures out of pocket.
After more tests, she received the very disappointing news that her ovaries are not in the best condition. Conceiving a child is not impossible, but would be extremely difficult for her. With this new information, she was then met with a difficult decision: try again or opt for adoption. Given her medical history, Steph decided she's used enough emotional and financial resources for insemination without success, and adoption is the best option for her.
Just to BEGIN the adoption process, she will need $18,000. After the price tag of five insemination attempts, this is going to be extremely difficult. Steph has always been there for us, now it’s our turn! Please consider helping Steph make her dream of becoming a mother a reality. Whatever you can afford to give would be greatly appreciated.
