Help start the Pelzer Garden Club

A week ago, I woke up to find that someone had cut down Pelzer's wildflowers in the middle of the night in an unnecessary act of vandalism to town property. We had been working in the medians on Lebby Street for a few years, trying to bring a low-cost, low-maintenance beautification solution to the center of a busy state road. The wildflowers were established and in full bloom, bringing joy to residents and motorists daily. The new seeds I planted this spring were coming in and about to bloom. In sharing this story, many people from all over Upstate SC and beyond have reached out, asking how they can contribute to the "Wildflower Project" that I have been leading to beautify Lebby Street from the bridge to the intersection at Hwy 20. The community cleanup we had this past Saturday was an inspiring testament to what can be done in just a matter of hours when volunteers who care about the town come together to do good. I'd like to take this a step further and officially establish a group dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of our town. I'm asking for "seed money" (pun intended) to form the Pelzer Garden Club. Such an organization can grow into something truly special for generations to come, bringing folks together who share a love for plants, yard work, and for Pelzer.
