After over 4 tireless years of fighting for a contract, hundreds of unionized Starbucks locations went on strike this past winter. Many marched and picketed for over 2 months in the cold, demanding a fair contract.
The company has refused to negotiate at the bargaining table, and is now closing 4 union stores in the Seattle area despite profitability and customer connection scores. Local SBWU folks are working to come together and start up a union kitchen in order to feed our fellow union-members as they look for other employment, or wait to see if they will be transferred.
And that's why we need your help!
This fund goes directly toward feeding Union Starbucks workers following recent store closures! Our goal is to prep meals, provide groceries, and meet other specific community needs as they arise in the next few months! This will provide much-need support and stability during a very tumultuous time.
