We were heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of Kolter dad, Westbury soccer coach, and Rice professor Stan Sazykin.   Stan was a Rice associate research professor who studied space weather and the interaction of the solar wind with the Earth’s magnetic field. He was always ready to serve others, whether working with the Rice faculty senate or volunteering for Westbury youth soccer.  Stan will be keenly missed.  

We would like to help Stan’s wife Ying and their children, Andrew, Victor and Logan, as they navigate this difficult time. Andrew is a talented middle school soccer player who just placed in the top 10 at the 2021 Texas Mathcounts Competition.  The twins, Victor and Logan, tear up the pool in swim competitions and recently were chosen to participate in the International Mental Maths Olympiad.  Many of you know Ying from all of her time volunteering at Kolter.

As a family dependent on Stan’s income, they will need help in the coming months. While we can’t spare Ying and the kids from the biggest challenges that lie ahead, we can certainly ease the financial ones. Funds will go directly to Ying for her to use as they need it.  Whatever you can contribute is greatly appreciated.
