Hi, I’m Kate and like many of you, I’ve been a friend and patron of the Wedgwood Ale House for years. The building that has housed the Wedgwood Ale House for decades—and a tavern for decades before that, since the repeal of Prohibition—has been sold to a commercial business, despite efforts by long-time customers and community members to purchase the building.
The new property owners, despite early promises on their part, have made it impossible for Kip to renew the lease and keep the Ale House open. The community that has supported—and been supported by—the Wedgwood Ale House is obviously devastated. The last day of our beloved gathering spot is December 28th.
Most especially, we are concerned for the staff and servers, many of whom have been employed at the Ale House for over a decade, as they will be losing their jobs during the holiday season. All funds raised here will be distributed to the employees to support them as they look for new jobs.
Campaign ends on Dec. 21st to give Kip enough time to distribute money to the staff.
