Support Stacy’s Fight Against Cancer For those who know me, my younger cousin Stacy has always been like my little sister. As only children, we grew up incredibly close. I was the one who taught her to be tough, and I was always there to protect her. Now, Stacy needs our collective strength more than ever.
Recently, Stacy was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, a shock to our family, especially since she is just four years younger than me. This is a battle I cannot fight for her, but together, we can support her through this challenging journey.
On July 26, Stacy went to the ER and discovered a 6cm mass on her liver. A biopsy revealed it was Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver. A subsequent colonoscopy found a 2.5cm mass causing an 80% bowel blockage, the source of the cancer. Stacy will be heading to the Mayo Clinic for a second opinion and further testing from September 17-24. Following that, she faces 3-6 months of chemotherapy, major surgery to remove part of her colon and liver, and then another 6 months of chemotherapy. She will need regular testing to ensure the cancer is gone.
Stacy needs funds to cover the first three weeks of out-of-network medical expenses, travel, and living costs while she is unable to work for a year or more. Many have returned to a normal life after a Stage 4 diagnosis, and I believe Stacy can too. She is the strongest woman I know, and if anyone can beat this, it’s her. Stacy has maintained a positive attitude and is committed to spreading the message of preventive care.
