Period poverty is in a community near you. One in four women in the US struggle with affording period items. A quarter of teenage girls has experienced period poverty. And for low-income women and women of color, the rates are even higher.
St. Augustine of Canterbury has provided feminine hygiene products as part of our food pantry for several years now. Like many other charitable endeavors, we rely on gifts to be able to do this. And like many other organizations, the need for this work has gone up each year. Help us to help our neighbors by giving to this project. Every penny goes towards the purchase of quality period products, and they are given away freely to anyone in need at our neighborhood food pantry, which occurs twice a month.
Each month it costs approximately $400
to provide period products through the food pantry. Our goal is to raise enough money to keep up the work of ending period poverty in Benton Harbor in 2026.
