My name is Narayan Rana Magar, and I have known Shreejal Shrestha since childhood. Today, I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend and his family, who are going through the most challenging time of their lives.

Shreejal, born on 15 September 1998 in Urlabari-7, is the beloved son of Jagat Shrestha and Laxmi Shrestha. Just last year, in 2024, he left for Cyprus on a working visa, full of hopes to build a better future for himself and his family. But life took a heartbreaking turn.

Only 8 months into his stay, Shreejal was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) — both of his kidneys had failed. His health deteriorated so quickly that he had to urgently return to Nepal. He came back not only with a life-threatening illness but also in heavy debt from the expenses he took to travel abroad.

Right now, Shreejal is undergoing regular dialysis at Shahid Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Centre in Bhaktapur as he prepares for a kidney transplant surgery next week. His mother, Laxmi, is making the ultimate sacrifice by donating her kidney to save her son’s life. This means there will be two family members in recovery who will need ongoing care and support.

The total cost for surgery, treatment, medication, hospital stays, and aftercare is estimated at 2.5 million Nepalese rupees. Unfortunately, this amount is far beyond what his family can afford. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward:

• Surgery & hospital expenses for the kidney transplant

• Post-surgery medication & follow-up treatments

• Care and recovery for both Shreejal and his mother

• Basic living expenses during the recovery period, when neither can work
