Hello everyone! If you are reading this, I want to start by thanking each and every one of you for taking the time out of your day to read this post. As many of our repeat donors already know, this year marks our 6th year creating smiles and joy for kids in a small township named Tehuixtlera Morelos, Mexico.
This has been an amazing small gesture that began with us wanting to pay it forward. Leaving friends and family behind wasn't easy, and we thank you all for the support you gave us and continue to give. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
I can proudly say that our daughters understood quickly that giving gives you the same feeling as receiving presents. Forfeiting one Christmas morning in 2020, they dressed up as the Grinch's little elves. We were able to donate $500 worth of gifts from a Christmas bonus from my employer. This was the begining of the avalanche we have today, and with all the safety measures, we successfully gave out toys. This was nothing big, we were out there for about three hours. I believe the people thought we were "Loco" out there in costume in 80-degree weather.
Our second year, we incorporated a red and white balloon arch in candy cane swirls so we could take pictures. We also replaced two elves with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and a Candy Cane helper. This was the first year we received monetary donations from close family. We ended with extra toys, so we rode around the neighborhood and passed out the rest.
Our third year was our first GoFundMe campaign. This made it possible for more toys and to add a small food dispensary for seniors of the community. Our Rudolph was replaced by a gingerbread girl! Dancing elves were back, and the Grinch came back sassier than ever. The balloon arch was red with green, representing holly. We were very fortunate to get donations from friends and families from California, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, and New York.
2023 Grinchmas came around quickly as word spread about the Grinch showing up on Christmas day to give toys out. So it felt like Christmas time all year long. One of our elves turned into a lovely Candy Cane girl. Two dancing elves and the Grinch team had more volunteers than ever. We added 5 piñatas to the event. The number of kids lined up was amazing. The balloon arch was lime green and white. We had a few toys left, so we drove to the next-door community, and they were gone within minutes.
Last year was our 5th year and was by far the best, with over 50 plus kids waiting for the Grinch to step out before we even began. Note, we used to go looking for kids to pass the toys out. So the flyers I posted definitely worked. We got caught off guard with the large presence of kids. The balloon arch was composed of red, white, and lime green. Two dancing Miss Clauses and an elf. We also added movie night with popcorn and 5 green Grinch coins to the piñatas. Grinch coins are traded for a much bigger prize. The movie was projected on a 24ft screen. The Grinch had a wardrobe change from his Santa suit to his Christmas lighted sweater. Donations were generous enough to buy better quality toys like Mattel. All the toys were gone by the end of the night.
Drum roll please..................................... This year the goal is to have a very snowy Grinchmas. Yes, that's right, snow in 80 plus degree weather. Introducing to the community our very own "Grinch Cake Walk." The little elves are now young teens that love to bake, so we will have our very first Cake Walk.
The pantry dispensary will include: 1 bucket, rice, beans, oil, coffee, pasta, powder-based seasonings, and canned veggies.
Gifts: The gifts will be age-appropriate toys for children 10 and under.
Every donation, no matter how big or how small, will make a difference to those receiving them.
So, with all that said. We implore you to help us in our mission to spread the love, joy, and Christmas cheer one more time. To show that everybody is worthy of a good Christmas season! Remember; the best thing about Christmas is love and giving.
How can you help?
1) By donating to this campaign.
2) Sharing this page with family, friends, or even coworkers!
3) Spread the word on social media. (Remember, the simple act of informing someone about this project could benefit this Grinchmas)
Help us make this another unforgettable Grinchmas Christmas!
Last but not least, I truly want to thank everyone again who has supported my family and me throughout all the years. THANK YOU.
