I am Sophia Nonte, and I am going to be a senior at Eastern Greene High School. This November, I will be traveling to Tanzania to volunteer through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ), a globally recognized organization that connects individuals with meaningful service opportunities around the world. The trip will involve hands on community work, and I will be directly contributing to projects that support education, public health, and sustainable development in under-resourced areas.

Founded in 2007, IVHQ is one of the world's leading volunteer travel organizations. They have placed over 132,000 volunteers in more than 40 countries. IVHQ's programs are designed to ensure volunteers make a genuine impact while being immersed in a new culture, all under the guidance of experienced local teams. Their mission is to create a better world through responsible and affordable volunteer travel.

WHY I WANT TO GO

This trip is more than just travel; it's an opportunity to give back, learn, and grow. I've always had a deep desire to help others, and this experience will allow me to step outside of my comfort zone and contribute to a cause bigger than myself. I believe in the power of community and understanding different cultures, and I hope to use this trip to not only make a difference but also to better understand the world around me.

HOW IT WILL BE BENEFICIAL

Volunteering abroad will give me valuable perspective, practical skills, and unforgettable life experiences. I will gain insight into international service work, build relationships with people from different backgrounds, and return home with a deeper appreciation for global issues and the importance of empathy and action. This journey will help me grow personally and prepare me for future service-driven goals in my life.

TRIP COSTS & THANK YOU TREATS!

For the costs of my volunteer trip, I am aiming to raise $3,500. 100% of my donations will help offset my program fees, along with travel costs. Every dollar goes directly toward making this experience possible and helping the community I’ll be serving.
