Four years ago, Sonia’s youngest sister was diagnosed with cancer. Despite fighting with everything they had, she sadly passed away, devastating the entire family. This tragedy brought immense pain but it also brought the family closer together.
When Sonia’s sister passed, she left behind six beautiful children: Jonathan, Jobany, Yarely, Lia, Javier, and Maylin. They were left in the care of Sonia’s retired parents, who stepped in with love, but caring for six young children was a heavy responsibility. After much thought, Sonia and her husband Miguel made the life-changing decision to adopt all six children. Sonia already has three children of her own, and together, they have opened their hearts and home to this much larger family. Their goal has always been to bring everyone to the United States, where they can have a brighter future and greater opportunities.
After completing the adoption, Sonia believed the immigration process would be straightforward—but it has not been. Several attorneys discouraged them with limited options, but just when hope was fading, they found a law firm willing to help guide them. However, the cost is overwhelming. The legal and immigration fees for six children have slowed their progress significantly, and financially, Sonia and Miguel are doing everything they can. They continue to support the children’s needs and travel frequently to be with them, but they cannot do this alone.
If you are able to support Sonia and her family in any way, please know that it comes from a place of deep gratitude. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings them closer to bringing these children home. From the bottom of their hearts, thank you for your kindness and support.
